Synopsis
In a near future reshaped by the Water Wars, Cinnamon Jones is an older scientist, artist and hoodoo conjurer who leads a farming community that shelters flood refugees, with help from robotic companions and her dogs. Two days before the community's annual Next World Festival, she goes looking for a missing Circus-Bot, a junk sculpture animated with code and hoodoo, and finds it sheltering a little girl who is running from child-snatchers. Old lovers and betrayers return, outsiders try to pry out her secrets, and raiders, a nostalgia militia and online overlords press in. Cinnamon has to balance respect for her elders and history against building a future.
