Overview

The Cinnamon Jones books are three novels by Andrea Hairston set in one alternate-history world where hoodoo conjuring works. Redwood and Wildfire (2011) follows Redwood, an African American woman, and Aidan, a Seminole Irish man, performers and conjurers who travel from Georgia to Chicago around 1900 as minstrel shows give way to vaudeville and film. Will Do Magic for Small Change (2016) follows their granddaughter Cinnamon Jones, who wants to act, and her family's secrets. Archangels of Funk (2024) finds Cinnamon, now older, leading a community of farmers and flood refugees in a near future reshaped by Water Wars. A reviewer describes the three as a sequence.
