Overview

Kate Griffin's London is a city where magic runs through streets, trains, rooftops and the electric wires, the magic of the urban landscape itself. Matthew Swift, a resurrected sorcerer and host to the blue electric angels of the electric wires, is drawn into a war for the soul of the city and becomes, unwillingly, the Midnight Mayor. The Magicals Anonymous books, set in the same London, follow Sharon Li, a former coffee-shop barista who discovers she is a shaman and runs a self-help group for the magically challenged, as she is drawn into the Midnight Mayor's business. Griffin's playful, run-on prose has drawn comparisons with Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere.
