Synopsis
Archmage opens the Homecoming trilogy as Drizzt Do'Urden and his companions turn their path toward Menzoberranzan, the drow city of his birth, which he has avoided for decades. In the city itself, the archmage Gromph Baenre grows increasingly disillusioned with drow society and its rulers, while his reborn daughter Yvonnel quietly manipulates events from the shadows toward her own ends. On the surface above, dwarves investigating the ruined Hosttower of the Arcane must contain a dangerous fire primordial loosed by earlier events, a threat that draws Drizzt's group further into danger as they travel. The novel interweaves these threads of drow intrigue and surface peril as Drizzt's companions press toward a homecoming he has long dreaded, setting up his eventual return to the city he fled as a boy.
