Synopsis
In the second Artemis Fowl novel, Artemis learns that his father, long missing and presumed dead, is alive but being held by the Russian Mafia, and sets out to secure his rescue. At the same time, he becomes entangled in a separate crisis involving the B'wa Kell, a goblin gang staging an armed uprising against fairy authority with smuggled human weapons. Complicating matters further, the gang has formed an alliance with Opal Koboi, a brilliant and vengeful pixie inventor with her own grudge against the fairy police force that once thwarted her ambitions. Artemis must navigate both his father's rescue and the goblin conflict, forced into uneasy cooperation with the fairies he outwitted in the previous book.
