Synopsis

The powerful farseeker Elspeth Gordie is sent to Sutrium, seat of the Council that rules the Land, to seal an alliance between the secret Misfit community at Obernewtyn and the rebel forces gathering against the Council, a mission that requires her to masquerade and to work with rebels who distrust and fear Misfits. Meanwhile the strange girl Dragon, found at the end of the previous book, lies in a coma at Obernewtyn, her nightmares spilling into the minds of everyone around her, and Elspeth must also pursue the hidden signs of the Seeker's quest that only she is meant to follow: the clues left by the Beforetime seer Kasanda, pointing toward the weaponmachines that could bring a second Great White. The third novel, shortlisted for the Aurealis Award for young-adult fiction.
