Synopsis
Beyond the Deepwoods opens the Edge Chronicles proper. Twig has grown up among the Woodtrolls of the Deepwoods but has always sensed he does not belong among them, and when his adoptive mother finally admits he was found as an abandoned infant, he sets out to learn who he truly is. His search takes him past the boundary of the Deepwoods into a wilder, unmapped region of the Edge, where he must survive predatory creatures and uncanny phenomena while relying on a scattering of unlikely companions, among them the prophetic Caterbird. Rumors and signs of the sinister Gloamglozer follow him through the journey. Along the way Twig grows drawn to the free, dangerous life of the sky pirates, a pull that shapes his sense of where he might finally belong, even as the larger mystery of his origins remains only partly resolved.
