Synopsis

The second of the three books about Villemo of the Ice People. A love affair has led Villemo Kalebsdatter into involvement in the killing of the son of Woller, the great farmer, who has sworn revenge at any price, and after Eldar's death she is called to account for the harm she unintentionally caused. When she begins to suffer a series of suspicious accidents, she asks her third cousin Dominic Lind for help. But when Dominic arrives, Villemo has disappeared without a trace, and his attempt to find and save her ends with both of them in captivity. A story of passion, guilt and the long reach of a blood feud, set among the yellow-eyed descendants of Tengel the Evil and their struggle between good and evil.

Notes

  • From the series record (The Legend of the Ice People): The original 47-volume saga (1982-1989) following the cursed Ice People clan across generations of Scandinavian history, marked by inherited supernatural gifts, a medallion-bound curse, and (in its later volumes) an underground kingdom where time itself runs differently. Two later continuations exist (a further ~35 volumes across two more parts, published years afterward) and are not yet catalogued here pending closer genre review.
