Synopsis

Following their narrow escape from the witch coven known as the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel become fugitives hunted from every direction at once, pursued by witches loyal to the ruthless Morgane, by fellow chasseurs who see Reid as a traitor, and by the church itself. Forced apart to seek help where they each can find it, Lou, Coco, and Ansel turn to the Blood Witches for aid while Reid pursues uneasy alliances with werewolves, mermaids, and potentially even the king himself, each faction carrying its own price and its own risks. As the group's fractured relationships strain further under the pressure, Reid must reckon with having used forbidden magic himself, while Lou is drawn deeper into darker corners of her own power, both of them changed by choices the previous book's dangers forced upon them.
