Synopsis

In the mythical, French-inspired kingdom of Belterra, witch-turned-thief Lou le Blanc has spent years hiding from her past among the criminal underworld of the capital, disguising both her magic and her identity from a society that hunts and burns witches on sight. Her careful anonymity collapses when she is forced into marriage with Reid Diggory, an devout witch hunter, or chasseur, sworn by both faith and duty to destroy people exactly like her. As the newly and unhappily wed pair navigate the practical realities of a marriage neither of them wanted, mutual suspicion gradually gives way to grudging trust and then to a growing, dangerous attraction, all while Lou works desperately to keep the truth of who, and what, she really is from the husband whose entire calling is to hunt her kind down.
