Synopsis
Bloodhound continues the story of Beka Cooper, now a first-year Dog working the Evening Watch in Corus's Lower City alongside her experienced partners Clara Goodwin and Mattes Tunstall. When counterfeit coins, known as coles, begin turning up in the city, the trio's investigation into the fake currency escalates as a bread shortage sparks unrest among the population. Around this time Beka rescues an abused hound she names Achoo, whose scenting ability soon becomes essential to the case. As evidence points toward a larger counterfeiting operation, Lord Gershom, the Lord Provost, sends Beka, Goodwin, and Achoo to the port city of Port Caynn to track the coles to their source, taking Beka and her partner into unfamiliar territory where the criminal network proves more dangerous than the Lower City version they know.
