Synopsis
Bloody Rose, the second novel in The Band, is set about six years after the events of Kings of the Wyld, in a world where mercenary bands, once wandering fighters for hire, now perform monster battles in arenas for paying audiences rather than venturing out on true bounty missions. Tam Hashford, tired of her routine job at her local pub, auditions to become the bard for Fable, the most famous band of mercenaries in the business, by performing a song written by her own mother, and to her surprise is accepted. Fable is led by the notorious warrior known as Bloody Rose, and Tam's new life as the band's bard and narrator takes her on a tour of performances and engagements that mixes the group's public spectacle with the real dangers still lurking beneath its arena-fighting reputation.
