Synopsis
Kings of the Wyld, the first novel in The Band, follows Clay "Slowhand" Cooper, a retired mercenary now living a quiet life as a town watchman years after his adventuring days ended. His old bandmate Gabriel "Golden" Gabe arrives asking him to help reassemble their once-famous mercenary band, Saga, whose members were treated something like rock stars in their heyday. Gabriel's daughter Rose is trapped in Castia, a city under siege by an overwhelming horde of monsters led by the ancient enemy Lastleaf, and Clay reluctantly agrees to help track down their other scattered, now-aging former bandmates, including the wizard Arcandius Moog, the once-rogue king Matrick Skulldrummer, and the long-frozen warrior Ganelon, in order to fight their way across dangerous territory to reach her.
