Synopsis
Burnt Offerings is the seventh novel in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Anita is drawn into a new set of supernatural obligations when she becomes the appointed protector of St. Louis's local were-leopard pack, a group of young and vulnerable shapeshifters with few other allies to turn to for defense against outside threats. Taking on this responsibility places her in close, complicated contact with pack members including Nathaniel, whose growing attachment to Anita adds another thread to her already tangled personal life alongside her ongoing ties to Jean-Claude and Richard. As dangers converge on the were-leopards and on Anita herself, she must balance her role as their guardian with the mounting political and romantic pressures of her position among the city's vampires and shapeshifters, forcing her deeper into the responsibilities of supernatural leadership.
