Synopsis
The Killing Dance is the sixth novel in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. A leadership struggle within the local werewolf pack comes to a head after Richard Zeeman kills the pack's previous alpha, thrusting him into the role of pack leader and forcing him to defend that position against rivals who see him as unfit to rule. The upheaval tests Anita's loyalties as she watches Richard adapt, often uneasily, to the violent demands of lycanthrope leadership, while her own entanglement with Jean-Claude deepens further when circumstances lead the two vampires and Anita into a formal triumvirate bond, tying their fates and powers together in a way none of them can easily undo.
