Synopsis
Castle of Wizardry opens with Garion and his companions having recovered the Orb of Aldur, and the story turns to the revelation of Garion's true identity as the long-hidden Rivan King, heir to a line thought to have failed generations before. Garion must adjust to this abrupt change in his understanding of himself, including his betrothal to the Tolnedran princess Ce'Nedra, amid the ceremony and politics surrounding his new position among the western kingdoms. Looming over these developments is the knowledge that Garion is fated to face the god Torak directly, a confrontation that shapes the decisions made by him and his mentors. As the volume progresses, Garion sets out toward that reckoning accompanied only by a small number of his closest companions, leaving the rest of the group to pursue separate tasks in his absence.
