Synopsis
Chainfire opens the trilogy of the same name with Richard waking to discover that Kahlan is missing and that no one else, including his closest friends, has any memory that she ever existed. The Sisters of the Dark have cast a spell called Chainfire, deliberately erasing Kahlan from the memories of everyone but Richard while using her, unbeknownst to those around him, to steal the Boxes of Orden. Alone in his certainty that Kahlan is real, Richard sets out on a desperate quest to find a way to restore her existence in the minds of others, even as the Sisters of the Dark pursue their own hidden agenda tied to Emperor Jagang's larger plan to unleash the Keeper of the underworld.
