Synopsis
The fifth anthology of short fiction set in Valdemar, edited by series creator Mercedes Lackey, gathers original stories from Lackey and more than a dozen other contributing authors. Like its predecessors in the anthology line, the book is a collection of independent tales rather than one continuous narrative, following Heralds, their Companions, and other inhabitants of the kingdom as they confront personal, magical, and political challenges across Valdemar and its neighboring lands. The stories vary in tone and scope, ranging from small character-focused pieces to adventures that touch on larger events shaping the kingdom, and several extend miniseries and characters introduced in earlier volumes of the anthology series, continuing to build out the shared world that Lackey's guest authors write within.
