Synopsis
A small, solitary mercenary known only as Chien du heaume fights with a war axe and hires herself out to the highest bidder. She has lost her true name and her past, and the only hint she has is the strange markings on her axe. Between campaigns she spends the winters with her friend the Chevalier Sanglier, who believes he can help her recover who she was. He sends her to the scarred blacksmith Regehir, who made the weapon, and on the way she meets Salamandre, a faceless giant in iron armour. The story is a dark, violent medieval fantasy in a world of mercenary companies, with very little magic.
