Synopsis
Set in very early Christian times, the story follows Juniper, a healer, and her young apprentice Wise Child. Local people accuse them of witchcraft, and the two are forced to leave their small town. Wise Child's cousin Colman, a boy, escapes with them and tells the story in his own voice. The three travel to the land where Juniper was born. There Juniper's past comes to light, and she turns out to be a princess. Colman and Wise Child must find their place in a world of royal households and old loyalties, while the hostility that drove them from home is never far behind them.
