Synopsis
Juniper is the daughter of a Cornish king and grows up in comfort, yet she chooses to train as a healer in the magic of the natural world. When her apprenticeship ends she returns home and finds that her ambitious aunt Meroot is using dark magic to seize the crown. Juniper's powers are still untested, and she must decide how to use them to oppose Meroot before the kingdom is ruined. The novel is a prequel to Wise Child and shows how its healer came to live as she does.
