Synopsis
Confessor concludes the Chainfire trilogy and the long invasion arc that has run through the preceding books, as Richard works to use the magic of Orden itself to permanently remove the Chainfire spell and secure Kahlan's restored memories once and for all. With the Sisters of the Dark and Emperor Jagang's Imperial Order converging on a final confrontation, Richard and Kahlan must draw together every ally and resource they have gathered across the war to prevent catastrophe. The stakes extend beyond their own survival to the fate of the D'Haran Empire and the Midlands, as Richard is forced to weigh drastic options for securing lasting freedom against the Order's oppressive threat.
Where it sits
- Universe: Sword of Truth
- Series: Sword of Truth (main sequence) core; position 11 of 15 in the series' recorded order
- Author: Terry Goodkind
Notes
- From the series record (Sword of Truth (main sequence)): 15-novel continuous main sequence; publication order equals internal chronology throughout. Correction: The Pillars of Creation's first US edition is 2001 (Nov 20), not 2002 as some secondary listings state; 2002 is a paperback/reprint date bleeding into 'first publication' fields.
Neighbouring works
Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings, but they resolve to the exact same sequence for this book, so one combined line is shown instead of two identical ones.
- Reading order, within the series Sword of Truth (main sequence): position 11 of 15: previous Phantom (2006) · next The Omen Machine (2011)
