Synopsis

Rhett Hennessey, a Texas Ranger and shapeshifter now fully embracing the identity that was once forced into hiding, crosses paths with Earl O'Bannon, another shapeshifter fleeing the ruthless railroad baron Mr. Trevisian. Drawn into the fugitive's plight, Rhett assembles a diverse posse, including fellow Rangers Sam and Coyote Dan along with Dan's sister Winifred, and sets out to take down Trevisian and rescue the brother Earl was forced to leave behind. Along the way the group confronts the blood magic of small gods, the cruelty of witches, corruption within the law itself, and the dark alchemy Trevisian wields as a confident, wealthy man who is used to simply taking whatever he wants from those with no power to stop him.
