Synopsis
In this third installment of the Shadow series, Ranger Rhett Walker pursues the necromancer Bernard Trevisian, who has possessed the body of a young girl named Meimei and continues to threaten the fragile order Rhett and his diverse posse have fought to protect. When tragedy befalls Rhett's captain, he and his companions, several of them decidedly nonhuman themselves, are forced to confront Trevisian largely on their own, without the backup they once relied on. The journey brings them up against poisonous monsters and other dangerous creatures of the weird West, alongside unexpected allies such as a gorgon who may prove more helpful than fearsome, all while Rhett continues coming to terms with his own identity with the steady support of the makeshift family he has gathered around him.
