Synopsis

The seventh and final Crown of Stars novel opens in the aftermath of the catastrophic spell that failed to contain the exiled Ashioi, who have now returned to a world thrown into upheaval by their arrival and by years of internal conflict within King Henry's realm. Sanglant must work to consolidate a fragile claim to power across Wendar and Darre while contending simultaneously with the returning Ashioi preparing for war, court conspirators such as Antonia and Adelheid forming their own dangerous alliances, and rivals including Stronghand and Duke Conrad who see his weakened position as an opportunity to seize the crown for themselves. Liath, whose actions triggered the cataclysm, and their daughter Blessing, along with the still-mysterious Alain, round out a sprawling cast working through the political and magical wreckage left by the series' long-building crisis.
