Synopsis
In the third Circle of Magic novel, Daja Kisubo, a Trader girl gifted with magic over metal, travels northward with her foster family from Winding Circle and encounters people of the very Trader culture that banished her after her ship was wrecked and she alone survived. Living among Traders again forces Daja to confront the customs and prejudices that shaped her exile, even as she tries to find her footing among them. When a careless mage fails to contain a forest fire threatening a nearby clan, Daja's unusual command of metal and fire magic becomes essential to protecting people who had turned her away. The book follows her efforts to reconcile her outsider status with her sense of duty, while she and her found family of fellow young mages continue to rely on one another as they face this new crisis together.
