Synopsis
Darksoul continues the Godblind trilogy in the aftermath of the invasion that opened the series, following the survivors among Rilpor's soldiers, nobles, and common people as they contend with the devastation the Mireces have already inflicted and the continuing threat their blood-god worship poses to the kingdom's survival. As Rilpor's fractured leadership struggles to mount an effective response, characters introduced in the first novel must navigate both the practical demands of warfare and the deeper religious conflict between the peaceful Ranged gods and the Mireces' violent deities. The novel deepens the trilogy's portrayal of a kingdom pushed to the edge of survival, following the widening consequences of the war set in motion by Godblind.
