Synopsis

Daughter of the Moon Goddess is the debut novel of Sue Lynn Tan and the first book in the Celestial Kingdom duology, published in January 2022 and drawing on the Chinese legend associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival. It follows Xingyin, the hidden and headstrong daughter of the moon goddess Chang'e and the mortal archer Houyi, who has been raised in secret exile on the moon after her mother was imprisoned there by the Celestial Emperor for drinking an immortality elixir against his wishes. When Xingyin's magical abilities unexpectedly awaken and threaten to expose her identity, she is forced to flee into the wider Celestial Kingdom, venturing among realms including the Eastern Sea, the Winged Kingdom and the Demon Realm.
