Synopsis
Dead Ice is the twenty-fourth novel in the Anita Blake series. The FBI brings federal marshal and master necromancer Anita Blake a disturbing case involving illegal "zombie porn," in which reanimated corpses are used for profit even though the victims' souls remain consciously trapped inside their rotting bodies through binding voodoo magic. As Anita works with federal agents to trace the operation, the investigation forces her to reckon with how far her own necromantic powers have grown beyond what she once believed possible. The case unfolds alongside considerable personal upheaval, since news of Anita's public engagement to the vampire Jean-Claude has spread through the supernatural community, and several of her other partners are pushing to be included in the coming commitment ceremony, adding domestic pressure to an already unsettling investigation into who is behind the zombie exploitation.
