Synopsis

Der Pakt der Bücher continues Mercy Amberdale's story in industrial-era London, following her established role as a practiced bibliomancer operating out of the Cecil Court bookshop that has become her sanctuary. Cedric de Astarac, an agent representing the three powerful houses that govern bibliomantic society, pressures Mercy into a dangerous bargain: deliver a mysterious eighth chapter of a legendary book and accompany a commissioner as he performs magic drawn from the completed work, or watch her sanctuary be destroyed. As Mercy is forced to comply, she finds herself navigating competing agendas among rival factions, including a rogue agent and an antagonist named Absolon, each with their own designs on the book's power.
