Synopsis
Set generations earlier than the main Seiten der Welt storyline, in industrial-era Victorian London, Die Spur der Bücher follows Mercy Amberdale, a rare book hunter raised by the bookseller and bibliomancer Valentine Amberdale and trained alongside her childhood friends Tempest and Philander. The story centers on Cecil Court, a bookselling district ruled with an iron hand by the enigmatic Madame Xu, where Mercy operates within the same hidden bibliomantic tradition later inherited by Furia Faerfax. After a dangerous mission to retrieve rare book chapters goes tragically wrong, costing the life of her friend Grover, Mercy withdraws from that world for two years, only returning when a mysterious incident at Cecil Court forces her back into investigating murders and secrets tied to her own hidden origins.
