Synopsis
Dragon Prince opens the trilogy of the same name in a fantasy land called the Desert, centered on the fortress of Stronghold. Rohan, newly come to power as the region's prince after his father is disabled, must prove himself a capable ruler while contending with High Prince Roelstra, an older, calculating overlord who commands the loyalty of most of the continent's other princedoms and has fathered seventeen daughters as tools of influence. Rohan's aunt Andrade, who leads an order of light-wielding sorceresses called Sunrunners, arranges his marriage to one of her own, the faradhi Sioned, hoping to bind magical and political power together. Roelstra, meanwhile, schemes to draw Rohan into a ruinous alliance through his ambitious daughter Ianthe. Political maneuvering, magic drawn from sunlight, and the ever-present, near-mythical dragons of the Desert shape the widening contest between the two rulers.
