Synopsis
The Star Scroll picks up fourteen years after the events of Dragon Prince, moving the story's focus to a new generation. At Goddess Keep, the Sunrunner Andry and his companion Hollis unearth ancient scrolls recovered from the ruins of a lost sorcerers' keep, records that hold dangerous, half-forgotten knowledge of magic. Unknown to them, surviving practitioners of that hidden, outlawed sorcery become aware the scrolls have resurfaced and begin plotting to reclaim them before their secrets spread further. At the same time, a political crisis erupts when a stranger named Masul steps forward claiming to be the true heir to a princely throne, a challenge that threatens the standing of young Pol, son of High Prince Rohan, and triggers assassination attempts against those loyal to him. Andry's brother Maarken becomes entangled in both the magical mystery and the succession dispute as the threats converge.
