Synopsis
Dragons of Summer Flame opens after a battle in which the young mage Palin Majere, nephew of Raistlin, is permitted by the enemy Nightlord Steel Brightblade to bring his two slain brothers home to their parents, Caramon and Tika, in Solace. Elsewhere, the Knights of Takhisis discover an island inhabited by the secretive, shapeshifting Irda, and the Irda's fearful reaction to being found sets off a catastrophic chain of events: believing an invasion inevitable, they open the Greygem of Gargath, an ancient artifact containing the destructive entity known as Chaos. Before releasing it, they send away Usha, a human orphan they had raised, believing her vulnerable to the Greygem's effects, with a message for the wizard Dalamar at the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas. The unleashing of Chaos threatens to draw characters across Krynn into a new, world-spanning conflict.
