Synopsis
The fifth Riyria Chronicles novel sends Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater to the resort city of Tur Del Fur on what looks like an easy, well-paid job: stopping a disgruntled dwarven craftsman who was fired from his position and has vowed retaliation against the legendary sea-defense towers of Drumindor, structures relied upon to protect the city from invasion. What begins as a straightforward matter of tracking down one aggrieved former employee grows more complicated as Royce and Hadrian look closer into the craftsman's grievance and the towers' defenses, raising the stakes of the job well beyond what either of them expected when they took it.

Publication order and internal chronology are tracked as two separate orderings and are never conflated: a book's place in one says nothing about its place in the other.
