Synopsis
Tobyn-Ser is a peaceful and forested land, but it is threatened by those who damage it in the name of progress. Jaryd, a gifted young mage, bonds with an eagle and so fulfils an old prophecy that foretells war, becoming an Eagle-Sage. Across the sea, in the cities called the Nals of Lon-Ser, Melyor is a street-smart ruler with magic of her own, who works to keep the peace with Tobyn-Ser. Her efforts make her unpopular in a land with a long history of deadly coups. Both of them must act if they are to prevent war and keep their lands from falling into chaos, and each must decide how far to trust the other.
