Synopsis
Falcon is an eleven-year-old growing up in Manhattan with divorced parents who are too busy with their own lives to notice her much. While walking in Central Park she finds a large, scarlet egg that is warm to the touch. She carries it home, keeps it secret from her mother, and enlists three trusted adults to help keep it warm. Months later the egg hatches into a baby dragon, whom she names Egg. Falcon pours her attention into feeding, hiding and protecting the creature, but a growing dragon in a New York apartment building is hard to conceal, and she gradually has to face what Egg needs and what that will cost her.
