Overview
The Falcon books are a children's fantasy series by Luli Gray, published by Houghton Mifflin between 1995 and 2005. In the first book, Falcon, a Manhattan sixth grader, finds a hot red egg in Central Park and hides it with three trusted adults; it hatches into a dragon she names Egg, and she must eventually let it go to its own world. The sequels keep the New York setting and bring back Egg and Falcon's family: in the second, Falcon and her brother Toody fall from an airplane and are helped by dragon breath and the Charles Street witch; in the third, a teenage Falcon uses magic to take her dying mentor back to 1903. No further book has appeared since 2005.
