Synopsis
Fire, the second novel of the Engelsfors Trilogy, takes place roughly ten weeks after the events of The Circle, as the six Chosen Ones contend with the personal fallout of what they have already faced. Linnea is still grieving the loss of Elias, while Minoo and Vanessa each face crises within their own families, straining the group's fragile unity. The mysterious council that oversees magical affairs grows openly hostile toward them, even as apocalyptic signs begin to appear across their town in the form of dying forests and unnaturally oppressive heat. With more enemies arrayed against them than ever before, the six girls must navigate mounting supernatural threats alongside the ordinary pressures of adolescence, as secrets from their community begin to surface.
