Synopsis
The Renshai face growing prejudice in the Westlands. The Northlands have persuaded a faction in Erythane that the Renshai lands were stolen, and the king banishes the Renshai from the Westlands. Shunned by Westerners and hunted by Northmen, they endure many trials. The story follows three adolescent sons of a Renshai warrior, each trying to prove his manhood against personal and outside challenges, and pirates who serve godlike giants also oppose them. In the end the Renshai rally against a common enemy that is determined to destroy them. Hints of magic set up later books in the Renshai Chronicles.
