Synopsis
Halt's Peril continues the Ranger's Apprentice series as Will, Halt, and Horace pursue Tennyson, the cult leader behind the Outsiders, into the harsh and unfamiliar land of Picta, determined to bring his operation to an end before he can rebuild his following elsewhere. During the pursuit, Halt is struck by a poisoned arrow, leaving him gravely ill and forcing Will and Horace to abandon the chase in favor of a more urgent problem: finding a cure before the poison takes its toll. With two possible toxins that could be responsible and limited knowledge of which one was actually used, the group must race against time, relying on local knowledge and their own resourcefulness to identify the correct antidote. As Halt's condition worsens, Will is forced to take on more responsibility than ever, testing how far his training has prepared him to act without his mentor's guidance.
