Synopsis

Morgon of Hed and Raederle of An pursue the mysterious shapechangers while searching for the High One, the enigmatic power whose land-law maintains the balance of their world and whose disappearance has left every land-ruler's awareness of their own territory dangerously unmoored. Traveling with freed wizards and land-rulers who join their cause, they confront dark forces and edge closer to uncovering the secrets of Morgon's true destiny and the three stars he bears. As they move nearer to Erlenstar Mountain itself, Morgon and Raederle must rely on allies gathered along the way to withstand the shapechangers' escalating attacks, even as the mystery of who, or what, has silenced the High One grows more urgent.
