Synopsis
House of Chains is the fourth novel in Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. It follows a Teblor warrior named Karsa Orlong, who descends from his isolated mountain homeland on a violent personal odyssey and is eventually captured and enslaved by agents of the Malazan Empire, an experience that reshapes his understanding of the wider world. Meanwhile Adjunct Tavore Paran, newly appointed and largely untested in the eyes of her own soldiers, leads the reconstituted Malazan Fourteenth Army into the Holy Desert of Raraku to confront the rebel prophet Sha'ik and finally put down the Seven Cities uprising.
