Synopsis

House of Earth and Blood, the first book in Sarah J. Maas's Crescent City series, follows Bryce Quinlan, a half-fae, half-human woman on the world of Midgard, living a life divided between demanding work and enthusiastic partying in the city of Lunathion, known to its residents as Crescent City. Bryce's life is upended when a demon murders her closest friends, and although a suspect is soon imprisoned for the crime, further killings in the same style continue to occur, leaving Bryce convinced that the truth has not yet been uncovered. Determined to find real answers, she partners with Hunt Athalar, a fallen angel bound in service to the ruling Archangels, and together they are drawn into the city's criminal underworld in search of whoever, or whatever, is truly responsible, uncovering secrets that threaten everything Bryce thought she knew about her home.
