Synopsis
Annaleigh and her surviving sisters live in Highmoor, an isolated seaside manor, where four of the twelve Thaumas daughters have already died under tragic and increasingly strange circumstances, feeding whispers among the household staff and townsfolk of a curse on the family. Grieving and restless under their father's strict mourning rules, the sisters begin secretly slipping away at night to attend a mysterious series of enchanted midnight balls held by a stranger who seems to know exactly what each of them wants. As the deaths continue and the balls grow more entrancing, Annaleigh starts to suspect that her sisters' fates were no accident, and sets out to learn what, or who, is truly responsible before the family loses anyone else.
