Synopsis
Quentin, a temple acolyte, is sent to deliver an urgent message to the ailing king of Mensandor and is drawn into a wider conflict as the ambitious Prince Jaspin schemes for the throne with the aid of the sorcerer Nimrood. Accompanied by the knight Theido, Quentin crosses dangerous country and finds himself unexpectedly central to the kingdom's fate. The opening volume of the Dragon King trilogy sets Quentin on the road from an unassuming temple servant toward the destiny that shapes the rest of the series.
