Synopsis
Inkspell finds Meggie and her family a year on from the events of the first novel, still shadowed by the dangers their reading ability unleashed, when a corrupt and self-serving storyteller named Orpheus discovers he can use the same power to read several of them directly into the world of the book Inkheart itself. Trapped inside the story's own setting, Meggie and her companions find themselves caught in an escalating conflict between rival kingdoms within the Inkworld, a struggle that grows more dangerous the longer they remain trapped inside it. As she navigates a world she has only ever read about, Meggie begins to discover that her own reading ability may be developing into something stronger and more independent than her father's.
