Synopsis
With the capital lost, Prince Arslan and his small band travel through occupied Pars. At Kashan Fortress he faces the problem of slavery in his kingdom, which brings him into conflict with his own supporters over what a ruler should allow. The group then makes for Peshawar Fortress, hoping to rally the nobles who still hold out against Lusitania. Along the way they meet Hilmes, the masked man who also claims the throne of Pars and who wants Arslan removed. Arslan is young and untested, and his companions Daryun, Narsus, Elam and Gieve must keep him alive while he learns how to lead people who do not yet trust him.
