Synopsis
Back in Pars, the Lusitanian occupation begins to split from within as disputes grow between its leaders and its church. Arslan, helped by Narsus's planning, calls on the Parsian lords to rise and join him, and begins to build a real army out of scattered nobles and loyal soldiers. Hilmes, the masked claimant, makes his own plans and finds a new ally among the invaders. In the capital's prisons, the captive King Andragoras III watches events unfold. The prince must now turn a handful of companions into a force that can march on the capital, and decide which of the nobles he can rely on.
