Synopsis
Lady Everleigh Blair, known as Evie, is seventeenth in line for the throne of Bellona, a kingdom where a person's magical power decides their standing. Because she shows no magic, the court mostly ignores her. That changes when her cousin, the crown princess Vasilia, murders the queen and seizes the throne. Evie survives the slaughter of the royal family because she is immune to magic. She hides among a troupe of gladiators, learns to fight alongside them, and decides to enter the arena herself so that she can get close enough to kill the new queen. One of the troupe, Lucas Sullivan, is a strong magier with secrets of his own.
